Porto striker Samu Omorodion, who was close to joining Chelsea in the summer, believes there was an unseen force keeping him from moving to Stamford Bridge.

The 20-year-old had long been expect to join from Atletico Madrid in a £34million deal, with a deal already in place before it collapsed amid concerns over an ankle injury.

Omorodien moved to Porto in Portugal instead and made a fine start to life at the club, scoring seven goals in the same number of games, including a goal in a 3-3 draw at Manchester United.

The Spain Under-21 international has revealed his collapsed move to West London and believes his summer move to Enzo Maresca was not in God’s plan.

“I had a very difficult summer,” Omorodien told Spanish broadcaster RTVE.

“We had a really bad time because at the end, everyone knew I was close to signing, but it’s true that if it didn’t happen, it was for some reason, because God didn’t want it to happen.”

“I am also very grateful to Porto for giving me a UFABET chance when the situation seemed the worst and I am very happy with where I am now. I have left the past behind me and now I am focus on what will happen to me.”
